For all of those years I put my family first. I contributed, I planned, and I carried my share and more. But when things became difficult, I realised something that shook me. Despite everything I had put in, I had no control over our finances. He controlled everything. Leaving the relationship would have meant leaving with my two children and nowhere to live.
That moment changed me. I set out to understand money properly, I rebuilt my own financial footing, and I made myself a promise that I would never be in that position again.
